Eloy Vargas Gets Minnesota Interest

Eloy Vargas, a 6-foot-10, 210-pound forward from Plantation (FL) American Heritage, shined in July, leading his AAU team, Team Breakdown, to the championship game of the Reebok Summer Championships and the 2007 AAU Junior National Championship title. GoldenSports.Net recently caught up with Vargas to learn the latest on his long list of schools, including Minnesota.

Eloy Vargas paced Team Breakdown to the 2007 AAU Junior National Championship title in Orlando as Team Breakdown defeated King of the Court 74-45. Vargas had 17 points in the win.

Team Breakdown lost to Belmont Shore 78-73 in overtime in the Reebok Summer Championship title contest, despite Vargas scoring 21 points ands grabbing 17 rebounds.

Vargas is a skilled offensive player with good ball-handling skills. He is a good shotblcoker and rebounder, despite a lack of bulk. However, he needs to continue to get stronger to withstand the pounding of college basketball.

Vargas told GoldenSports.Net that he is hearing from Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Florida, Miami, south Florida, Indiana, Minnesota, Clemson and Virigina. Vargas said that he is wide-open in his recruitment and plans to sign in the late signing period in April.
