Willie Mobley Hopes to Win Second State Title

Willie Mobley, a 6-foot-2, 263-pound defensive end from Eden Prairie, is Minnesota's top defensive lineman. Mobley helped lead the Eagles to a 14-0 mark and a Class 5A title as a junior. He was named All-Metro by the Minneapolis Star Tribune and First-Team All-State and has 20 offers. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Mobley after the Eagles' opening win over Jefferson to learn the latest.

Willie Mobley had 74 tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries as a junior and helped limit Bloomington Jefferson to just three offensive points in a 49-10 win last Thursday. The Jaguars scored their lone touchdown on a 99-yard fumble return.

Mobley bench presses 305 pounds and squats 405 pounds and run the 40-yard dash in 4.85 seconds.

What is the latest on the recruiting front?

"Not much. Right now, I am just focused on a state title right now."

Have you set up any visits?

"Nothing yet. I have not narrowed it down yet. I will soon. When I get settled and the season starts going, I'll cut it down, but right now, it is just Eden Prairie football."

Mobley has a 2.7 core GPA and is retaking the ACT in September.
