Trent Lockett Adds Two Major Offers

Trent Lockett, a 6-foot-5, 195-pound junior guard/forward from Minnetonka (MN) Hopkins, has added two major offers this week, according to Net Gain AAU coach Marquise Watts. Lockett previously had offers from Northern Iowa, Wisconsin Green Bay, Colorado State and Iowa State and added offers from Arizona State Wednesday morning and Wisconsin today.

Arizona State head coach Herb Sendek, Iowa State head coach Greg McDermott and assistant T.J. Otzelberger, Rice assistant coach Marty Gillespie, Wisconsin Green Bay head coach , Iowa head coach Todd Lickliter and assistant Chad Walthall, North Dakota State associate head coach David Richman and Minnesota assistant Vince Taylor were in attendance Tuesday at a Hopkins open gym that GoldenSports.Net attended.

Trent Lockett is traveling to Las Vegas with Watts to participate in the Phase 1 Hoops Fall Desert Showcase Saturday.

Lockett, who was a sixth man last season, helped lead the Royals to a 26-2 mark last year.

Hopkins won the Class AAAA (biggest schools) title in 2005 and 2006 and was the favorite to win it all last year before they were upset by crosstown rival Minnetonka 55-53 in the second round of the section playoffs. They had not been challenged during the regular season as their closest game against a Minnesota opponent was an 11-point win.

Lockett averaged 7.5 points per game last season and had six double-figure efforts, including 17-points against Minneapolis Roosevelt and Milwaukee Lutheran.

Lockett will be counted on more heavily with the graduation of guards Blake Hoffarber (25.2 points per game), who is at Minnesota and Tyler Nicolai (12.4), who is at Division III St. Thomas and center Chris Pfeifer, who is at Division II Concordia St. Paul.

Hopkins traditionally faces one of Minnesota's toughest schedules and will play in the Timberwolves Shootout in January.
