Jarrod Jones Makes Minnesota Visit

Jarrod Jones, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward from Michigan City (IN) High, visited Minnesota this past weekend on an unofficial visit. Jones is getting plenty of recruiting interest, despite missing the summer with a broken shin that he suffered while on an unofficial visit to Notre Dame.

Jarrod Jones has scholarship offers from Indiana State, Valparaiso, Marist and Baylor and recruiting interest from Iowa State, Penn State, Notre Dame and Minnesota.

Jones averaged 16 points and seven rebounds per game for the Wolves, who finished 8-13 overall and 5-9 in the Duneland Conference.

Jones played for the SYF Players AAU team.

Minnesota has two scholarships available and are heavily involved with six players. Their main targets are centers Ralph Sampson and Krys Faber, forward Josh Crittle, shooting guard Scott Haralson, combo guard Devoe Joseph and point guard Verdell Jones.

Jarrod Jones has indicated that he will likely sign in the late signing period. The Gophers are hoping to land two commitments before the early signing period November 14-21. Jones is considered a likely fallback if the Gophers are unable to land two of their top six targets.

Jones recently told ScoutHoops.com that he has a list of top schools.

"Right now I think I like Iowa State, Penn State and Minnesota," he said. "I'm liking Notre Dame too. They are all good schools and the coaches are good people. Those are schools that I can go to and get some exposure."
