Corey Stern Gets Minnesota Interest

Corey Stern, a 6-foot-6 forward from Highlands Ranch (CO) ThunderRidge, has gotten Minnesota interest. Stern shined in the recent Rocky Mountain Fall Showcase, where he was named the Most Outstanding Player after scoring 28 points, tying the event record and adding 13 rebounds and four blocked shots. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Colorado Chaos coach David Matthews to find out the latest.

Corey Stern impressed Rock Mountain Fall Showcase director and Colorado Chaos Dave Matthews with his strong play.

"His upside is massive. He was amazing in the All-Star game. He's really tough," Matthews said.

Stern helped lead Thunderridge to a 22-5 mark. They started the season 6-0 and won 12 straight before falling to falling to Denver Mullen 51-36. He averaged just three points per game, but is expected to carry a much bigger scoring load this season.

Stern's father played football at Minnesota and the Gophers have shown some early interest in the junior, according to Matthews.

"If Minnesota recruited him, he would pass out with happiness," Matthews said.

Stern played for the Colorado Select AAU team this summer.
