Brandon Green Leads Robeson in Playoffs

Brandon Green, a 6-foot, 185-pound wide receiver from Chicago (IL) Robeson who recently committed to Minnesota, showed his versatility last week in their 32-27 first round Class 5A playoff win over Johnsburg. Green switched to quarterback after they trailed 14-0 at halftime with fellow Gopher commit Johnny Johnson moving to wide receiver.

The move paid off as the Raiders advanced to the second round for the second straight year Saturday versus Belivedre.

Brandon Green connected with Johnny Johnson for a 68-yard TD to put Robeson up for good late in the third. He completed three of five passes for 158 yards and had six carries for 40 yards with one rushing touchdown. advance to the second round for the second straight year.

Green told the Chicago Tribune that the move to quarterback gave the Raiders the Raiuders they needed to make the second half comeback.

"Going into the locker room (at halftime) it was kind of quiet. But when I got behind at quarterback, it got everybody all fired up. It gave a spark for the whole team."

Green has 49 catches for 932 yards and 17 touchdowns in nine games. He missed the season opener, their only loss of the year. Green has rushed 16 times for 159 yards and four rushing scores and has completed eight of 17 passes for 234 yards and three touchdown strikes.

Green has returned 17 punts for 269 yards.

Green had planned to attend the Minnesota-Ohio State game September 29th, but the Raiders had a game that day.

Green attended the Minnesota Gopher football camp this summer and told recently that he came away impressed by the coaching staff.

"I like the coaches at Minnesota," he said. "They are all really nice and they are an up-and-coming program. They are losing a wide receiver so there will be a spot open and I'd be able to fill it and play early - possibly as a freshman."

Green has a 2.7 core GPA.
