Verdell Jones shined as a member of the Ft. Sooy No Limit AAU team that is coached by his father, Verdell Sr. Jones said that he is hearing from schools such as Kentucky, Minnesota, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
"I had planned on visiting Oklahoma next weekend, but I wouldn't be able to, due to a conflict."
Jones is ranked as the #28 point guard in the country and #2 uncommitted playmaker. The Gophers will have just one point guard on their roster, Al Nolen, and would like to sign another player at that position.
Champaign Central figures to be one of the top teams in Illinois and will play in several top tournaments, according to Jones.
"We are playing in the Tournament of Champions Classi in Peoria (November 23-24), the Great florida Shootout (in Kissimmee December 26-29) and in the Tournament of Champions in Springfield, MO. (January 18-20)."
Champaign Central has plenty of returning talent and size with 6-foot-5 junior Jordan Walker and seniors, 6-foot-4 Jerry Exum, 6-foot-6 Keith Biggers, 6-foot-5 Chris Lehman and 6-foot-5 Donald Stewart.
Jones visited Kentucky for their Midnight Madness along with recent Minnesota commitment Ralph Sampson.
