Minnesota Faces Florida State in ACC/Big Ten

Minnesota faces Florida State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge Tuesday on the road. The game will be televised on ESPN2. The Gophers and Seminoles are meeting for the sixth time, with each team winning three. FSU won the last meeting 70-69 in the 2004 ACC/Big Ten Challenge but the Gophers won the previous two meetings 76-71 during the 2000-01 season and 79-66 in 1980-81 season.

Minnesota is 1-5 in ACC/Big ten Challnege games, losing their last four matchups. They lost to Clemson last year 90-68, which was head coach Dan Monson's last game was the Minnesota head coach.

The Seminoles are 5-2 this season with victories coming against Nicholls State, Georgia Southern, Alabama-Birmingham, Georgia State and Florida, snapping the Gators 15-game winning streak. They lost to Cleveland State 69-66 in overtime and 68-67 to South Florida in the Glenn Wilkes Classic.

Florida State, which relies on a three-guard attack, is led by senior guard Isaiah Swann, who is averaging 16.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. Junior Toney Douglas, a former treansfer from Auburn, is averaging 12.4 points per game. Jason Rich, a 6-foot-3 senior, is averaging 10.6 points and 4.7 rebounds.

Uche Echefu, a 6-foot-9 junior, is averaging 10.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Fifth starter Ryan Reid is averaging 5.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

The Seminoles rely on an eight-man rotation,with senior guard Ralph Mims, the top scorer off the bench. Mims, who received recruiting interest from Minnesota, is averaging 7.4 points per game.
