Dan Coleman Named to NABC All-District Team

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today that Gopher forward Dan Coleman has been named to the NABC Division I All-District 11 Team. The last Gopher to make NABC All-District first-team honors was Vincent Grier in 2005. Coleman is the 14th Gopher to earn first-team honors since the NABC went to separate teams in 1958 and just the seventh since 1990.

The NABC Division I All-District teams recognize the nation's best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes. The 150 student-athletes, from 15 districts, are now eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams to be announced on Saturday, April 5, at the 2008 NABC Convention in San Antonio.

Dan Coleman, a senior from Minneapolis, Minn. (Hopkins HS), is averaging a team-high 12.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for the 18-10 Gophers. He has scored 1,271 points in his career, 16th-most in school history and has also grabbed 588 rebounds in his career, making him just the 17th person in school history to amass 1,000 career points and 500 rebounds in a Gophers uniform.

Coleman, an honorable mention All-Big Ten performer in 2006-07, has collected 10 double-doubles in his career, including five this season. He has played in 121 career games as a Gopher, scoring in double figures 68 times. His 121 games played are the sixth most in school history.

The Gophers wrap up the regular season with a pair of road games, tonight against the Indiana Hoosiers at Assembly Hall and Sat. Mar. 8 against the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill. Tipoff for tonight's games is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central with Saturday's game set for 12 p.m. Central.

Coleman was joined on the first team by Drew Neitzel of Michigan State, Dominic James from Marquette, Brian Butch of Wisconsin and Raymar Morgan from Michigan State.
