Mahtomedi's Ed Olson Commits to Minnesota

Ed Olson, a 6-foot-6, 270-pound offensive tackle from Mahtomedi, has committed to Minnesota, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. His father, Ed Sr., played for Minnesota from 1980-82 and served as a team captain. Olson helped lead the Zephyrs to the Class 4A Prep Bowl as a junior playing alongside brother Tom, a freshman, losing to Totino Grace 13-8 and finishing with a 10-4 record.

Ed Olson is the third in-state player to commit to Minnesota, joining lineman Josh Campion of Fergus Falls and quarterback Moses Alipate of Bloomington Jefferson. The Gophers, who did not sign an offensive lineman this past season, now have Campion, Olson, grayshirt Roszell Gayden and Notre Dame transfer Matt Carufel.
