Brooks Michel Visits Minnesota

Brooks Michel, a 6-foot-7, 280-pound offensive tackle from Carmel (IN) High, visited Minnesota this week and sttended the Gophers' spring game. Michel has an offer from Minnesota and North Carolina State and could make a decision by the end of June, according to his father Tim. GoldenSports.Net caught up with the two to find out the latest on Michel's recruitment.

Brooks Michel helped lead Carmel to the Indiana state championship and 13-2 mark. Their two losses were to future Gophers QB Marqueis Gray of Indianapolis Ben Davis 28-27 and a 32-31 defeat to Greenwood (IN) Center Grove.

Michel has also received interest from Albama, Virginia, North Carolina and Big 10 schools such as Iowa, according to his father Tim.

"Alabama wants us to come down and Brooks went to Iowa's junior day and is going to their June 7 camp," Tim said.

Michel is uncertain of his other camp plans, according to his father.

"It is a balancing act between the team and summer camps," he said. "The head coach is a top-notch guy and has a linemen camp and a team camp."

Tim Michel attended Indiana and played baseball one year there and his other son attended Indiana. However, the Hoosiers are really are not recruiting Brooks.
