Taylor Nelson Gets Minnesota Interest

Taylor Nelson, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end from Minnetonka, is one of the state's top players. Nelson helped lead Minnetonka to a 5-5 mark as a junior and was named first-team Classic Lake All-Conference. He also plays basketball and helped pace the Skippers to the Class AAAA title, defeating Henry Sibley 68-59 in the title game. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Nelson to learn the latest.

Taylor Nelson caught 20 passes for 363 yards last season as the Skippers finished 5-5, losing to Edina 21-13 in the second round of the section playoffs.

Nelson averaged 3.6 points per game for the Skippers' basketball team that finished 28-3 and won the Class AAAA title.

Nelson attended the afternoon session of the Minnesota football camp Saturday and talked to GoldenSports.Net about that latest on his recruitment.

Nelson, the son of Skippers' head coach Dave Nelson, attended the Iowa camp last Saturday and plans to go to the Wisconsin one-day camp and the Notre Dame camp June 28-29.

Nelson said that he is also hearing from several other colleges.

"I'm hearing from Purdue, Boston College, Northern Iowa, North Dakota State and Iowa State."
