Nick Rengel Commits to Minnesota

Nick Rengel, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound rising senior from Sartell, has committed to Minnesota, according to sources close to his recruitment. Rengel paced the Sabres to a 9-4 mark as a junior, losing to Mahtomedi in the state semifinals of the Class AAAA Tournament. Rengel is the sixth commit for the Gophers and the fourth in-state verbal.

Nick Rengel had 51 catches for 794 yards and 10 touchdowns last year and rushed the ball 17 times for 188 yards and two scores. He had three kickoff returns for 114 against Mahtomedi, including a 92-yard return for a touchdown.

Rengel also ran track for Sartell. He finished with a 22.96-second 200-meter dash at this year's state meet, finishing ninth in the preliminaries. The Sartell boys 800 relay team of sophomores Brent Orndorff, Josh Kremer and David Grow and Rengel had the ninth-fastest time of the day (1:32.79) to earn a spot in Tuesday's finals, where they finished ninth with a time of 1:31:14.
