Royce White Talks Basketball Camps

Royce White, a 6-foot-7, 213-pound forward from Minnetonka (MN) Hopkins, was the first commit to Tubby Smith for the Class of 2009. White played in the recent Vince Carter Skills Academy for small forwards and is in Akron, Ohio at the LeBron James Skills Academy. Smith and assistant Vince Taylor are watching White this week. GoldenSports.Net recently caught up with White to learn the latest.

Royce White said that he enjoyed matching up against the top small forwards in the Vince Carter Skills Academy. He said that he was impressed with Ferrakhon Hall, a 6-foot-8 forward from Memphis (TN) white Station.

"It was really good. Really competitive," White said.

White is playing at the LeBron James Skills Academy along with AAU teammate Rodney Williams. He admits that he is trying to recruit Williams to join him at Minnesota.

"I'm just telling him what I think it will do for me and what it could do for him," White said.

White transferred to Hopkins from Minneapolis DeLaSalle in the spring and expectations are very high for the Royals, who lost to Minnetonka in the sections the past two years after winning the 2005 and 2006 state titles.

"We shoot in the morning and I am playing AAU ball with two of my teammates," White said. "We feel that we can make a run at it all."
