Tubby Smith Visits Twin Cities Summer Classic

Minnesota head coach Tubby Smith after attending the Nike Peach Jam in Augusta Saturday and Sunday, traveled home to check out the Twin Cities Summer Classic. The tournament is down to the semifinals with the championship games being held Tuesday morning.

Net Gain advanced to the 17-and-under semifinals with a hard-fought 70-58 win over the MSB Roadrunners. Net Gain led 53-41, but MSB scored the next 10 points to cut the lead to two. Net Gain was led by 18 points by Arizona State commit Trent Lockett and 17 points from Minnetonka junior Cole Stefan. Sam Dower scored 12 points and Chanse Creekmur added 11. Tyler Bredow led MSB with 25 points and Mike Muscala scored 13.

They will face the Illinois Wolves, which defeated 94 Feet of Game 75-44. The Wolves had excellent balance with five players in double figures. Conrad Krutwig led all scorers with 18 points. Diamond Taylor had 14 points and Illinois verbal David Bertrand added 11. David Bryant and David Conway scored 10 points each. Steve Baker had 14 points for 94 Feet.

43 Hoops held off the Minnesota Comets Elite 54-50 as Damarcus Cruz had 15 points and Chris Halvorsen scored 10. Nate Wolters paced the Comets with 16 points and Andre Garth added 10.

Big Game Sports defeated Team Missouri 75-67 as Jake Ewing scored 21 points and Reinhard Jensen finished with 16. Thomas Sims had 12 points and Jamar Franks added 10. Danny Feldman led Team Missouri with 17 points and B.J. Ray added 13. Jorden Bax and Keith Dupont scored 10 points each.
