Wide Receiver Tray Herndon Transfers to Vandy

Wide receiver Tray Herndon, a part-time starter as a true freshman, has transferred to Vanderbilt, according to the Nashville Daily News. Herndon appeared in all 12 games for the Gophers last season, with seven starts. He caught 22 passes for 235 yards and one touchdown.

Tray Herndon was granted a release from his scholarship in May.

"We appreciate the contribution Tray Herndon made last year as a true freshman," head football coach Tim Brewster said. "We wish him nothing but the best as he moves forward in his playing career."

Herndon finished fourth on the team in receptions and third in receiving yards. Herndon will sit out the 2008 season and have three years of eligibility remaining for the Commodores.
