Mike Broghammer Commits to Notre Dame

Mike Broghammer, a 6-foot-8, 220 pound senior forward from Minnetonka (MN) Hopkins, has committed to Notre Dame during his official visit this weekend. Broghammer is the nephew through marriage of Chrisitan Laettner. Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey had recruited Laettner when he was an assistant at Duke. Broghammer had received some recent interest from Minnesota and recently visited the campus.

Mike Broghammer, who averaged 11.9 points per game as a junior last year, has scholarship offer from schools such as Notre Dame, Penn State, Santa Clara, North Dakota State, Southern Illinois, Western Michigan and and Wisconsin Green Bay.

Broghammer helped lead the Royals to a 27-2 mark, losing twice to state champion Minnetonka.

Broghammer scored in double figures in 16 of 29 games and six games of 20 or more points, including a season-high 26 points versus Edina.

Broghammer visited Colorado State and attended the Gonzaga Elite camp and Minnesota Advanced Camp at the end of June. He played in the Basketball Academy at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas July 6-8.

Broghammer is expected to lead Hopkins to a Class AAAA state title. The Royals have seven Division I caliber players and added transfer Royce White, who has committed to Minnesota. They also have Division player Trent Lockett, who has committed to Arizona State and Raymond Cowels, who is headed to Santa Clara.
