Junior Taylor Grant Gets Recruiting Looks

Taylor Grant, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound junior TE/QB from Eden Prairie, comes from a football family. His father, Mike, has coached the Eagles to back-to-back Class AAAAA titles. His grandfather, Bud, played in the NFL and NBA and is an NFL Hall of Fame head coach. Older brother, Ryan is a redshirt freshman for the Gophers. GodlenSports.Net talked to Taylor about the latest on his recruitment.

Taylor Grant has helped lead the Eagles to a 3-0 record as they have won 31 straight games. Grant has split time between quarterback and tight end. He has caught four passes for 21 yards with three touchdowns and has completed 10 of 15 passes.

Grant was diagnosed with a mild dislocation of his left elbow in the Eagles' 42-14 victory over Lakeville North Friday. His status for this week's game against Eastview is unknown at this time.

Grant attended the Minnesota-Northern Illinois season opener. GoldenSports.Net recently caught up with Grant to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Did you go to any camps this summer?

"I actually did not go to any camp this summer. I stayed home and worked out pretty hard. It was fun."

You have played two positions so far. How has that gone?

"I played quarterback, and on goal line situations I played tight end. It's nice to play both. I like playing both."

Are you planning on getting to some college games this fall?

"I'll try to make it to a few games. I like coming out here. It's nice to see these guys (Gophers) play."

Have you talked to your brother much about his role this season?

"He is going to redshirt and travel with the team. It will be a good learning experience for him. He is really excited. He likes the guys. He likes working out hard and it will be a lot of fun for him up there."

Are you hearing from many schools yet?

"I'm getting a couple of letters from different schools around the country. I am going to take it slow and not worry about it, focusing in on keep winning this year."

What schools are you hearing from?

"Big Ten schools, like Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa."

What other sports are you playing this year?

"I am going to play basketball and track and field. I throw the shot put and discus."
