Hayo Carpenter Becomes a Minnesota Gopher

Hayo Carpenter, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound wide receiver from College of the Canyons (CA) CC who is a five-star recruit, has committed to Minnesota after visiting the campus this weekend, according to sources close to the program. Carpenter is having an outstanding season this year for the Cougars, who are 8-0 and is considered the the top juco prospect in the country.

Hayo Carpenter caught 65 passes for 1,188 yards and nine touchdowns as a freshman and has raised his numbers this season as a sophomore. Carpenter has caught 66 passes for 1,133 yards and 12 receiving touchdowns. He has two rushing attempts for nine yards and has been a standout punt and kickoff returner. He has returned 12 punts for 259 yards and one touchdown and has seven kickoff returns for 190 yards and one score.

Carpenter and his Cougar teammates will face Pasadena at home Nov. 8 and at Bakersfield Nov. 15. The Cougars will play in a bowl game the following week.

Carpenter is the second wide receiver commit for the Gophers, joining Florida wideout Victor Keise. Minnesota currently has 12 commitments.
