Trevor Mbakwe Averaging Double-Double

Trevor Mbakwe, a 6-foot-8 forward from Miami-Dade (FL) CC who signed with Minnesota last week, has helped lead the Sharks to a 6-0 start and a No. 24 ranking in the first NJCAA poll of the season, going into their game Wednesday night against St. John's River Community College. Mbakwe scored 18 points in their 76-61 victory at home against St. Petersburg (2-4) Saturday.

Trevor Mbakwe is averaging 15.8 points, 14.8 rebounds and 5.2 blocked shots per game this season. He is shooting 66.7% from the field and 67.2% from the line. He has gone to the charity stripe an amazing 64 times in six games.

Mbakwe is one of four double-figure scorers for the Sharks. Sophomore guard James Beatty is averaging 15.3 points per game, Memphis signee Darnell Dodson is adding 13.3 points and Alabama transfer Rico Puckett is contributing 13.0 points per game. Memphis signee William Coleman is adding 9.3 points per contest.
