NY TE Sean Fitzpatrick Makes Minnesota Visit

Sean Fitzpatrick, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound junior tight end from Pittsford (NY) Mendon, attended the Minnesota-Iowa football game last weekend. Fitzpatrick, son of former Minnesota Gopher offensive tackle Dennis, has attracted interest from several top East Coast schools. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Fitzpatrick to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Sean Fitzpatrick attended the Cleveland National Underclassmen Combine, where he was clocked with a 4.68 40-yard dash time and a 4.66-second shuttle run. He bench pressed 155 pounds 25 times.

Fitzpatrick led Mendon to a 5-3 mark, losing to third-seeded Marshall 18-15 in the Section V Class AA football quarterfinal. Fitzpatrick caught a 30-yard touchdown pass in the loss.

Fitzpatrick had a chance to check out several college games this fall,

"I went to Connecticut, Rutgers, Pittsburgh and North Carolina," he said.

Fitzpatrick, who plays both tight end and free safety, has received a scholarship offer from Buffalo. He attended summer camps at Syracuse and Buffalo. Fitzpatrick hopes to attended several camps this summer.

"Minnesota, North Carolina and Rutgers," he said.

His father, Dennis, played for Gophers football coach Cal Stoll from 1974 to 1977 and was named Academic All-Big Ten in 1977. He visited the Gophers campus shortly after Gophers coach Tim Brewster was hired.

Fitzpatrick also plays power forward on the Vikings football team.
