Aaron Richter Gets Recruiting Looks

Aaron Richter, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound wide receiver from Mankato (MN) West, led the Scarlets to the Class AAAA Prep Bowl title. Richter was named to the Associated Press All-State team. Richter and twin brother Mike attended the Minnesota Gopher football camp this summer and watched the Minnesota-Iowa season finale. GoldenSports.net caught up with Richter to find the latest on his recruitment.

Aaron Richter caught 76 passes for 1,226 yards and 20 touchdowns as he helped lead the Scarlets to a 13-1 mark. Richter shined in the postseason, scoring four touchdowns in their 38-14 semifinal win over St. Michael Albertville. He had seven receptions for 123 yards and three touchdowns and had a 5-yard touchdown run. He had six games of 100 or more yards of receiving and scored two receiving touchdowns in three games and three receiving touchdowns in three contests. His brother, Mike, had 68 receptions for 961 yards and eight touchdowns.

Richter said that he is hearing mostly from three Midwest schools.

"North Dakota State, Minnesota State Mankato and Minnesota," he said.

Richter did not get a chance to get to many college football games this season.

"Not so many, because of a busy schedule and senior year and stuff like that. I went to two Gopher games," he said.

Richter is switching from football to basketball mode. The Scarlets finished 24-5, but were upset by Willmar 66-62 in the section finals. Richter averaged 6.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game last season. The Scarelts, who lost only two players to graduation, will make a Twin Cities appearance Tuesday when they face St. Thomas Academy.

"We are hoping for a state appearance," Richter said. "We kind of ended our season short, unexpectedly. We are hoping to make it to the state tournament."
