Brent Singleton Commits to Minnesota

Brent Singleton, a 6-foot-1, 204-pound defensive back/linebacker from Plantation (FL) American Heritage, has committed to Minnesota, according to Palmetto Sports. Singleton committed to South Carolina in June, but visited Minnesota in November. He is the 18th player to commit to Minnesota and the second this week.

Brent Singleton became the most recent commitment for Minnesota.

"I felt comfortable with the coaching staff," Singleton told Palmetto Sports. "I know I'm going to get on the field quickly. They showed me a lot of love."

Singleton has yet to take an official visit to South Carolina and said a change back to the Gamecocks is not out of the realm of possibility. "I don't know," Singleton said. "Anything is possible."

Singleton led the Patriots to an 8-3 mark this past season, losing to Archbishop Carroll 31-28 in the regional playoffs. They lost their three games by a combined 15 points. One of their losses is to North Broward Prep and Minnesota commit Victor Keise, 28-24.

Singleton was named to the 12th Annual NIKE South Florida All-Star Game, which will be held at Traz Powell Stadium on Jan. 16, 2009. Singleton will play for the Broward County All-Stars along with Gopher target Michael Carter of Ely.
