Gopher signee Justin Cobbs Named MVP

Justin Cobbs, who signed with Minnesota in the early signing period, led the Torrance (CA) Bishop Montgomery with 23 points and was named the tournament MVP as the Kinghts defeated Arlington (VA) Bishop O'Connell 65-58 in the San Luis Obispo Mission Prep national division championship game. The Knights improved to 11-1 this season.

Bishop Montgomery outscored Bishop O'Connell by seven points in the fourth quarter. Teammate Michael Panaggio added 16 points and senior David Eismeier had 10 for the Knights. Junior point guard Kendall Marshall, who has committed to North Carolina, had 19 in the loss.

Cobbs has led the Knights to 10 straight wins after losing to nationally ranked Compton Dominguez 84-69 in the Westchester Tip-Off. He is averaging 23 points per game this season. They face Sacramento (CA) El Camino Monday.
