Thomas Schalk helped lead the 43 Hoops Carr AAU team to the 15-and-under Twin Cities Summer Classic division title with an 80-53 victory over the Madison Spartans.

Schalk scored 12 points as Playaz Basketball Club White defeated 43 Hoops 63-59 to win the adidas 15-and-under title in Las Vegas. They had knocked off the highly ranked Ohio Basketball Club 68-65 in the semifinals to advance to the title game.

Schalk is averaging 12.8 points per game as the Eagles are off to a 4-6 start. He has scored in double figures in nine of 10 games this season.

GoldenSports.Net recently caught up with Schalk to learn the latest on his recruitment. Schalk said that he is starting to hear from some schools.

"I have taken a couple of visits, like to Wisconsin, Iowa and Iowa State. I went to the Northern Iowa Elite camp and I went to a Minnesota game. I am getting some letters, but those are the main schools," he said.

Schalk is working hard to improve his overall game.

"I am working on my athleticism and getting stronger," he said. "I have been trying to hit the weights a little harder. Get more athletic and quicker. Be more aggressive and more consistent."

Schalk has high expectations, despite a slow start against a tough early schedule.

"I think that we can be a really good team, if everyone can come together," he said. "Hopefully, our goals are a conference championship and a section championship, so we can go to state."

South Dakota State watched his game Friday versus Chaska and Minnesota watched him in the season opener against Henry Sibley.
