Seantrel Henderson Talks About The Latest

Seantrel Henderson, a 6-foot-8, 303-pound tackle from Cretin Derham Hall, is one of the country's top juniors. He was named to the Minneapolis Star Tribune and KARE 11 Sports All-Metro teams and Associated Press All-State. Henderson is also a basketball standout. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Henderson after his game against Roseville Friday to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Seantrel Henderson is one of the state's top two-sport standouts in the Class of 2010. He is considered the top football player in the country by two different scouting services. Henderson also played on the basketball team.

Henderson will be the latest Cretin lineman to move on to the Division I level, joining former Raiders Matt Carufel (Notre Dame and Minnesota), Ned Tavale (Minnesota), Raef Eubanks (Iowa) and Ryan Harris (Notre Dame).

The Gophers have made creating a pipeline to Cretin Derham Hall, one of the state's top programs, a priority. They signed John Nance and Shady Salamon last February and have walk-on wide receiver Kyle Moore on the roster. The Gophers added transfers Carufel and Kim Royston (from Wisconsin), who will be eligible after sitting out the 2008 season, and they added preferred walk-ons center Zach Mottla, strong safety John Onwualu and fullback Willie Schneider earlier this month.

The Raiders finished 12-1 this season, losing to Blaine in the Class AAAAA semifinals, 28-27 in overtime. Henderson was named to the Minneapolis Star Tribune and KARE 11 Sports All-Metro teams and was on the Associated Press All-State squad.

GoldenSports.Net caught up with Henderson after a tough 66-52 loss to Roseville after leading at halftime by one. Henderson, who is averaging a team-high 13.1 points per game, was held to just six points against Roseville, which used a combination of defenses to neutralize him.
