Lamonte Edwards See Recruitment Expand

Lamonte Edwards, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound junior linebacker/running back from Woodbury, recently picked up a scholarship offer from Minnesota. Edwards paced the Royals to a 9-2 mark this past season, losing to Cretin Derham Hall twice. Edwards is getting early looks from several Midwest schools. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Woodbury head coach Beau LaBore to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Lamonte Edwards is receiving interest from Minnesota and figures to be one of the state's most highly recruited players in the Class of 2010. Woodbury head coach Beau LaBore said that other programs are starting to show interest in his star players.

"Michigan State, Iowa, Northwestern, Wyoming, Michigan, and Wisconsin," LaBore said.

"He is a pretty unbelievable talent. He is very strong. He is explosive and fast. He is a hard worker. I think that he has a bright future."

Edwards helped lead the Royals to a 9-2 record, losing to Cretin Derham Hall 33-14 in the Class AAAAA Section 4 finals. They lost to the Raiders 22-16 in the regular season. Woodbury shined in the month of October. They defeated Hastings 48-14, White Bear Lake 48-20, Stillwater 48-7, Park of Cottage Grove 47-12 in the first round of the playoffs and Henry Sibley 54-20 in the semifinals.
