Chaska's Jake White Gets Recruiting Looks

Jake White, a 6-foot-7 sophomore forward from Chaska (MN) High, is one of the state's top players in the Class of 2011. White helped lead the Hawks to an 18-10 mark, losing to Bloomington Jefferson in the Section 2 semifinals 86-73. He paced the team in scoring with 13.6 points per game. GoldenSports.Net recently caught up with White to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Jake White will play again for the Hoops 43 AAU team. He helped lead the squad to the 15-and-under Twin Cities Summer Classic division title with an 80-53 victory over the Madison Spartans.

43 Hoops also shined in Las Vegas as they fell to the Playaz Basketball Club White 63-59 to win adidas 15-and-under title. They had knocked off the highly ranked Ohio Basketball Club 68-65 in the semifinals to advance to the title game.

GoldenSports.Net recently caught up with White to learn the latest on his recruitment.

What schools are you hearing from right now?

"Northern Iowa, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and some other smaller schools along with Wisconsin."

Did you get a chance to go to any college games this year?

"I have not, but I have taken a college visit to Wisconsin. I toured the buildings and checked out the environment."

Did you go to any camps last summer?

"I went to the Reebok Camp in Chicago."

What things are you trying to work on to improve yourself as a player?

"Mainly, it is going to be defense. Getting quicker feet. Probably some offensive moves like driving to the hoop a little more. Getting a little stronger."

You lost four senior starters. What are your expectations for next year?

"I still hold pretty high expectations. Like you said, we have lost a bunch of seniors and they were good players, but I still expect to have as great, if not excellent season next year."
