Royce White named Minnesota Mr. Basketball

Minnesota Gophers basketball signee Royce White of Hopkins was named Minnesota's Mr. Basketball. White led the Royals to a perfect 31-0 mark as he averaged a team-best 15.7 points per game. White will play in the Jordan Brand Classic in Madison Square Garden next week.

Royce White helped Hopkins win by an average of 23 points per game.

"Royce is an extremely strong and talented player with an ability to score from any place on the court," said award chairman Ken Lien. "While he had the ability to score far more than he did this year, he chose to do whatever he could to make the team better and it resulted in a Class 4A state championship for the Royals."

The other finalists this year were: Mike Bruesewitz, Henry Sibley; Raymond Cowels, Hopkins; Sam Dower, Osseo; and Jordair Jett, St. Bernard's.
