Jesse Berry Gets Minnesota Interest

Jesse Berry, a 6-foot-2 guard from Lafayette (IN) Jefferson, shined this past weekend as a member of the SYF Players at the Sabes Invitational. He scored 17 points in their semifinals loss to Houston Hoops 78-74. Berry has picked up Midwest recruiting interest, including from Minnesota. Golden Sports.Net caught up with Berry to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Jesse Berry helped lead the Bronchos to a 17-9 mark, losing to Kokomo 63-59 in the playoffs. He averaged 27.3 points per game and had six games of 40 or more points. Berry broke his own school record with 55 points as he made 17 of 30 shots from the field, six of ten from three-point range and 15 of 18 from the charity stripe. He had previously scored 51 against Rossville.

What schools are you hearing from right now

"Indiana, Purdue, Iowa State, Providence, Minnesota, Butler, Ball State and Dayton. There are a lot of them."

Hat offers do you have right now?

"Butler, Ball State and Dayton."

How far did you get in the playoffs this season?

"We got to the second round of the sectionals. One of our good players broke his rib before the game. We fought through some adversity and lost the game."

Do you have most of your players back for next season?

"We lost two seniors, Desmond Lake and Shawn Wyant. Shawn Wyant was our big man (6-foot-4). We are looking for our JV big men to step up."

Are you going to any individual or team camps this summer?

"Indiana has a team camp June 13th I might go to. I think that is it for right now.

How about any individual camps?

"I'm just going to colleges. I really like playing with their guys."

What are you hearing from Minnesota?

"I didn't have time to check out the campus, but I have talked to Tubby (Smith) on the phone."
