Mitch McGary Gets Recruiting Interest

Mitch McGary, a 6-foot-9 sophomore big man from Chesterton (IN) High, broke his right wrist during a sectional playoff game. He missed several spring events, including the Sabes Invitational. However, he recently got his cast off and played in last weekend's adidas May Classic in Bloomington. McGary has attracted interest from several Big Ten schools, including Minnesota.

Mitch McGary has already receiver scholarship offers from Purdue and Iowa and was recently visited by Ball State, Indiana and Iowa State.

Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame and Butler have also shown interest in McGary.

McGary suffered a broken wrist in their 53-49 double overtime to Valapraiso in the Class 4A Michigan City Sectional first round playoffs. He had 14 points and ten rebounds in the loss. McGary averaged 14.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and three blocked shots per game. Chesterton finished 11-10 this season.

McGary spent eight weeks with a cast on his left-hand (shooting hand). He is playing for the SYF Players 16-and-under AAu program and figures to attract plenty of interest this summer when schools can watch him in action.
