Matt Eggen committed to Minnesota over offers from Indiana, Western Michigan, Marshall, Northern Illinois, Buffalo, North Dakota State, North Dakota, Northern Iowa and Illinois State. He had also received interest from Michigan State, Iowa State, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
Eggen led Logan to a 8-2 record, losing to Marshfield 25-14 in their final game of the season. The Rangers tied with LaCrosse Aquinas for the Mississippi Valley Conference title.
Eggen was named first team WFCA (Wisconsin football coaches association) All-State and second team Associated Press All-State. He was also chosen WFCA all-region, La Crosse Tribune first-team all-area and first-team all-conference as an offensive lineman. He was also named first-team all-conference as a defensive lineman.
Eggen was an honorable-mention Mississippi Valley Conference offensive lineman as a sophomore.
