Wisconsin Soph J.P. Tokoto Gets Gopher Offer

J.P. Tokoto, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound rising sophomore guard from Menomonee Falls, received a scholarship offer from Minnesota last week. Tokoto, who is one of the top players in the Class of 2012 from the Badger State, has already received several top offers and will be closely watched this week as college coaches, including Minnesota's, can watch the top prospect during the open period.

J.P. Tokoto averaged 12.6 points for the Indians, which finished 15-9 last season, losing to Germantown 57-52 as they fell one game short of the state tournament.

Minnesota assistant coach Vince Taylor has coached Tokoto when he was younger at a NY2LA event and had recruited Menomonee Falls's Luke Russell.

Tokoto has already received scholarship offers from Iowa State, Iowa, Kansas, Wisconsin and Marquette. He is playing for the Wisconsin Playground Warriors AAU program and will play in the Hoosier Shootout this week. Minnesota head coach Tubby Smith and associate head coach Ron Jirsa are expected to watch Tokoto.
