Chanse Creekmur To Receive a Minnesota Offer

Chanse Creekmur, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound senior forward from Marshalltown (IA) High, is expected to receive a scholarship offer from Minnesota, after his continued strong play this summer. The talented Midwest shooter decommitted from Iowa in March.

Chanse Creekmur averaged 18.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season as he led the Bobcats to a 17-6 mark, losing to Cedar Falls 61-57 in the playoffs.

Creekmur had considered Marquette, Arizona State and Creighton among others when he committed to Iowa.

Creekmur is playing for the Net Gain Sports AAU and has shined this week in the NY2LA Sports Summer Jam.

Creekmur knocked off 2009 state champion Ames with his late second shot as a sophomore and the two powers were expected to meet before Marshalltown was upset by Cedar Falls.

"We were hoping to face Ames," Creekmur previously told GoldenSports.Net. "I think that we overlooked that team and they surprised us. They did a good job. They beat Kennedy and got to the tournament."

Creekmur admits that Ames had hopes for another chance against his team after losing to Marshalltown 51-50 in the Class 4A substate finals when Creekmur hit a game-winning jumper from the right wing with two seconds left. Ames was just seconds away from ending its 17-year state tournament drought.

"They wanted us pretty bad," Creekmur said. "They actually came down and beat us pretty good."
