Minnesota Hopes to Land #1 Harrison Barnes

Harrison Barnes, a 6-foot-6 forward from Ames (IA) High, is considered the number one player in the country. Minnesota is among his top schools and they are hoping that the proximity, quality education and his ties with Minnesota, will help the Gophers' chance of landing Barnes.

Harrison Barnes led Ames to a 26-0 mark, defeating Linn-Mar 55-45 in the state title game as he scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Barnes played this spring and summer with the All-Iowa Attack and with Minnesota based Howard Pulley. He helped lead All-Iowa Attack to the Jayhawk Invitational title and played for Pulley in the Boo Williams Invitational and Peach Jam.

Barnes played in the Nike Global Challenge last august with incoming Gopher freshman Rodney Williams and Royce White.

Banres is considering schools such as Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Oklahoma, Stanford, UCLA, TCU, Minnesota, Florida and Iowa State
