Chad Calcaterra Commits to Colorado State

Chad Calcaterra, a 6-foot-10, 235-pound senior from Cloquet who received a scholarship offer from Minnesota before his sophomore year, has comitted to Colorado State, according to Rene Pulley. head of the Howard Pulley AAU program.

Chad Calcaterra helped lead the Lumberjacks to a 16-13 mark last season, losing to Grand Rapids 65-51 in the section finals. Calcaterra averaged 23.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 4.3 blocks per game and shot 58.6% from the floor and 62.1% from the charity stripe. Cloquet finished 15-12 during his sophomore season as he was hampered with a stress fracture in his foot.

Calcaterra had scholarship offers from Minnesota, Northern Iowa, North Dakota State, Auburn, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Colorado and Colorado State.

His father, John, is an Upper Michigan native who played basketball at Mesabi Community College and walked on at Northern Michigan, where an assistant named Tom Izzo was on staff.
