Evan Williams Expected To Get Minnesota Offer

Evan Williams, a 6-foot, 191-pound quarterback/running back from Minneapolis (MN) DeLaSalle, is expected to receive a scholarship offer from Minnesota this weekend. Williams has helped lead the Islanders to a 6-0 start after a 59-0 win over Blake Friday.

Evan Williams moved to quarterback with the former Minneapolis Southwest head coach Sean Sean McMenomy taking over. The Islanders finished runner-up to Glencoe Silver Lake the past two years. Williams rushed for 2,092 yards and 31 touchdowns in 2008 as they finished 13-1, losing to Glencoe Silver Lake 42-21 in the Prep Bowl and he was named second team All-Metro by the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He missed most of the 2007 season with a knee injury.

Williams is putting up monster numbers as a senior. He has rushed for 1290 yards on 101 carries (12.8 yards per carry) for 17 touchdowns through his first five games. Williams has completed 50 of 80 passes (62.5% completion percentage) for 1,014 yards and eight touchdown passes.

Williams completed 15 of 19 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 16 tie,s for 291 yards and three touchdowns in a 53-22 opening win over Brooklyn Center. He completed eleven of 21 passes for 224 yards and rushed 25 times for 291 yards and five touchdowns in a 46-28 victory over St. Croix Lutheran.

Wiliams completed eight of 15 passes for 241 and one touchdown in a 48-0 win over Concordia Academy and rushed 19 times for 223 and four scores. He was eleven of 18 for 189 yards and three touchdowns and carried the ball 29 times for 271 yards and three more scores in a 45-12 win over St. Anthony Village.

Williams completed five of seven passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns in a 77-14 win over St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Academy. He rushed twelve times for 214 yards and two more scores.

Williams used to play basketball and also played on the Howard Pulley AAU program.
