Soft Gophers Verbal Takes Another Visit

Jabari Price has a soft verbal commitment to the Minnesota Gophers, but he talked about a recent visit elsewhere and opening up his recruitment.

Jabari Price, a cornerback out of Ely High School in Pompano Beach Florida who recently gave a soft verbal commitment to the Golden Gophers, visited UNC this weekend and was impressed with what he saw.

The climate was much closer to what he is used to in Pompano Beach. "Just like Florida" Price said of the weather in Chapel Hill. "It was no different."

While in Minnesota, the weather was classic Big Ten weather, cold with overnight snow. "I heard about the snow [in Minneapolis last weekend]," Price said.

Minnesota is still very much in the running for the 5-foot-11 cornerback, but Price plans to open up his recruitment.

"Right now I'm at a soft verbal still, but I plan on opening my recruitment sooner or later." he said.

Minnesota and North Carolina, as well as Rutgers, will be the three schools he will be considering.

The school that wins the services of Price will have to have good academics as well as good athletics, he said. "[I'm looking for] a nice blend of academics and athletics, as well as life after graduation."

Michael Carter, Price's former teammate at Ely and current Gophers cornerback, is making sure that Price knows what a great place Minnesota is to play.

"He's telling me that he likes Minnesota, and he's telling me the benefits. He's telling me good things about Minnesota, but I have to do what's best for me," Price said.
