Vincent Johnson Talks About Minnesota Visit

Vincent Johnson, a 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive end from Fort Worth (TX) North Crowley, visited Minnesota this past weekend and watched the Gophers defeat Purdue 35-20 on homecoming. Johnson has five scholarship offers to date. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Johnson to learn the latest.

Vincent Johnson was named first team All-District 3-5A Team defense as a junior. The Panthers have gotten off to a 1-5 start as Johnson missed the first four games of the season with a knee injury. North Crowley faces Burleson Friday night.

Johnson has scholarship offers from Minnesota, UTEP, New Mexico, Portland State and Stephen F. Austin. Minnesota was his first official visit and he enjoyed his trip, despite the cold weather.

"The stadium is great. The hotel was awesome. They have shown a lot of love."

Minnesota is looking at Johnson as a defensive end, but he said that other schools are looking at him at several different positions.

"Defensive end, defensive tackle and outside linebacker."

Johnson enjoyed the visit, but he is not ready to make a college decision soon.

"I'm still undecided."
