Eric Decker Expected to Miss Rest of Season

Minnesota senior wide receiver Eric Decker, who is a finalist for the Fred Biletnikoff award for the second consecutive year, will miss the rest of the regular season with a sprained foot, according to Minnesota head coach Tim Brewster.

Eric Decker, who is a two-sport student-athlete (football/baseball), is one of the nation's top receivers and ranks as the top pass catcher in Minnesota history. He has 50 receptions for 783 yards and five touchdowns this season. He shined during the first five contest as he caught 43 passes for 639 yards and five scores.

Last year, Decker had 84 catches for 1,074 yards and seven scores. Decker was tied for sixth in the nation and led the Big Ten with 10.0 receptions per game in 2008. He was fourth in the Big Ten and 41st in the country with 89.0 receiving yards per game.

Decker, who is also a three-time academic All-Big Ten selection and was a CoSIDA/Academic All-District choice in 2008, ranks first all-time at Minnesota in career receptions with 227 and in receiving yards with 3,144.

Decker could return for a bowl game, if the Gophers win at least six games.
