CA JC DB Christyn Lewis To Visit Minnesota

Christyn Lewis, a 6-foot-1, 165-pound sophomore defensive back from Citrus (CA) CC, is visiting Minnesota this weekend. Lewis was recently named Central Conference Defensive Player of the Week. after he recorded a game-high 12 tackles, broke up one pass, and blocked an extra point in the game against 9th ranked Allan Hancock. Lewis is expected to be able to enroll in January.

Christyn Lewis has helped lead Citrus to a 2-6 mark. They defeated Chaffey 20-17 last weekend and have a bye this week, allowing Lewis to make a visit.

Lewis has 16 solo tackles and 17 assists. He has two tackles for loss, six pass breakups and two blocked kicks.

Lewis had 33 tackles for the Fighting Owls as a freshman, with 14 solo tackles and 19 assists. He was second on the team with five pass break-ups and had a team-high three blocked kicks…High School.

Lewis attended Bloomington High and he was named first team All-Sunkist League honoree and was named Player of the Week on three times. Lewis was also on the track and field team in high school.

Defensive Coordinator and defensive backs coach Martin Bacon is a strong believer in Lewis.

"He is one of the smartest players I've ever been around. He is very football savvy. He is a hard worker who wants to be the best."

Bacon feels that Lewis doesn't have many weaknesses.

"He needs to put some meat on his bones, but is working in the weight room. He works really hard. He is the first one in and the last one out in the weight room."
