White and Bostick Suspended Indefinitely

Freshman Royce White and senior Devron Bostick have been suspended indefinitely and will miss the Gophers' exhibition opener versus Minnesota-Duluth Thursday, according to Minnesota head coach Tubby Smith. The two have been suspended for "violation of team rules and conduct."

Royce White, a 6-foot-8, 240-pound forward from Hopkins, was the highest rated player in Minnesota's four-man recruiting class that was ranked among the top in the Big Ten. White helped lead the Royals to the Class AAAA state title and was named Minnesota's Mr. Basketball after leading the Royals to a 31-0 mark, defeating Osseo 69-59 in the Class AAA title game.

Devron Bostick played his first season with the Gophers after transferring from Southwestern Illinois, where he was the NJCAA Player of the Year.

Coach Tubby Smith address the situation Tuesday morning.

"These are things that are going back over a matter of time. When you do sometihng wrong and our guys know, that playing time or an opportunity to play, that is just a priviliege here and a priviliege to be part of this program and we expect them to conduct themselves in the proper way and if they don't that they forced our hand and forced us to do something that we really don't want to have to do."
