Dave Ramlet To Be A Gopher Preferred Walk-On

Dave Ramlet, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound lineman from Appleton (WI) Xavier, helped lead the Hawks to a 10-2 mark this season, losing to Kewaunee 25-14 in the third round of the playoffs. Ramlet, who attended last weekend's Minnesota-South Dakota State game, will be a preferred walk-on for the Gophers next season as a long snapper

Dave Ramlet was ranked as the second-best long snapper in the country by the Kohl's National Rating System. Kohl's runs camps for kickers, punters and snappers throughout the United States.

Ramlet, who is also the starting left tackle attended football camps at Minnesota and Wisconsin, accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity from special teams and inebacker coach John Butler.

Ramlet, who started long snapping as a sixth grader, comes from a family who have shined at that position. His grandfather, Bill Ramlet, long snapped at Yankton College; his father, Phil, snapped at Shawano High School; and younger brother Bobby, a starting linebacker at Xavier, is ranked first in the nation by Kohl's among long snappers in the class of 2012.

Ramlet also plays basketball and baseball for the Hawks.
