Tom Schalk Attends Minnesota Gopher Game

Tom Schalk, a 6-foot-7 junior forward who recently received his first scholarship offer, attended Saturday's Minnesota Gopher game versus St. Joseph's along with eighth grade standout Tyus Jones. Schalk is off to an outstanding start this season as he is averaging 29.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. GoldenSports.Net recently caught up with Schalk to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Thomas Schalk has gotten off to an outstanding start this season. He had 33 points and 16 rebounds in their season-opening 80-58 win over St. Louis Park. He had 25 points and 18 caroms in their 75-62 victory over Lakeville South.

Schalk finished with 17 points and five rebounds in a easy 78-35 win over Chanhassen and had 35 points and 17 boards last night in an 83-73 victory over Burnsville.

Schalk was quick to credit eight grade guard Tyus Jones for his strong early season play.

"He has been getting me the ball where I needed it."

Schalk made a recent visit to William & Mary, which extended him his first scholarship offer. He is also hearing from a variety of schools.

"William & Mary, Wichita State, Butler, Colorado State , Northern Iowa, North Dakota State, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Stanford and Wisconsin. Stanford was supposed to come to an open gym, but I was sick and Wisconsin was going to come but we couldn't find a gym. Bucknell came to a recent practice. "

Schalk has played for the talented 43 Hoops AAU program the past two seasons.

Schalk leads his 4-0 Eagles against Eden Prairie at home Friday.
