Hoffarber Named Big Ten Player of the Week

Blake Hoffarber, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound junior guard from Minnesota, was named Big Ten Player of the Week. Hoffarber won his first Big ten honor after helping the Gophers improve their win streak to four with a win over Northern Illinois last week.

Blake Hoffarber had a career-high 26 points in Minnesota's 89-48 win over Northern Illinois last Tuesday. The 6-4 guard set a new school record with eight three-pointers as he made eight of ten shots from beyond the arc, moving into fourth all-time in Minnesota history at .404 (144-of-356) and fifth all-time with 144 three-pointers. Hoffarber has led the team in scoring in the Gophers' last four outings, helping Minnesota average nearly 93 points per game during that stretch. Hoffarber also contributed four assists and pulled down six rebounds, including five on the defensive end, while shooting 82 percent (9-11) from the floor. This is the first weekly laurel for Hoffarber who returns the award to the Twin Cities for the first time since Dan Coleman accomplished the feat on Dec. 24, 2007.

Minnesota concludes its non-conference schedule Wednesday at home against South Dakota State.
