The Governors jumped out to a 19-12 lead, but the Royals rallied to knot the game at 29-29 on a Siyani Chambers' three-pointer. St. Paul Johnson led 42-39 at halftime.
Hopkins scored the first five points of the second half to go up 44-42, but Johnson quickly regained the lead for the remainder of the game. Hopkins refuses to go away and cut the lead to 66-65 with 7:33 left in the game. However, the Governors go on an 11-4 run to go up 77-69 with 3:55 to go. Hopkins cuts the lead to 82-78 with 15.3 left and get the ball on a St. Paul Johnson turnover, but they failed to convert and the Governors sealed the game with clutch free throw shooting.
Estan Tyler led all scorers with 20 points. Roosevelt Scott and Jordan Pluff had 14 points each and Anthony Lee added ten.
