Paul Jesperson To Attend Gopher Game

Paul Jesperson, a 6-foot-6 junior wing from Merrill (WI) High who attended the Minnesota-Wisconsin football game, will be back in the Twin Cities for the Michigan State Saturday. Jesperson has attracted interest from several other Midwest programs, including Minnesota.

Paul Jesperson is averaging 19.2 points per game this season for the Bluejays who are off to a 9-4 start. He averaged 15.8 points per game as a sophomore as he led Merrill to an 11-10 mark, losing to Wausau East 57-51 in the playoffs. He averaged 10.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game as a freshman for BlueJays who finished with an 8-13 record.

Kurt Soderberg, the younger brother of former Wisconsin and Saint Louis University head coach, Brad Soderberg, is Jesperson's high school coach.

Jesperson has received scholarship offers from Colorado State, Loyola, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, San Diego, South Dakota State, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Arizona State and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He attended summer camps at Marquette and Wisconsin.

Jesperson, who is coached by older brother Jason on his Wisconsin Plsymakers AAU team, had head coaches Buzz Williams of Marquette, Greg McDermott of Iowa State and Bill Carmody of Northwestern watchg him in the recent WBY Shootout along with assistant coaches from Wisconsin, Bradley, Colorado State, North Dakota State and South Dakota State.
