Alex Richter Adds Second Scholarship Offer

Alex Richter, a 6-foot-6 junior forward from Lakeville (MN) South, has received his second scholarship offer, according to Minnesota Pump N Run coach Jeremy Miller. Richter is having an outstanding season for the Cougars and is one of the Metro area's top scorers. GoldenSports.Net recently caught up with Richter to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Alex Richter is averaging 21.9 points per game as the Cougars are off to a 10-5 start. They started the season 0-3, but had won ten of eleven games before losing to Chaska 93-89 on the road Friday night. He has scored in double figures in all but the season opener, when he was held to eight points against Apple Valley. Richter has shined in the past five games, scoring 35 points versus Bloomington Jefferson, 36 against Minnetonka Monday and 37 in their loss to Chaska.

Richter picked up his second scholarship offer from Brown, according to Minnesota Pump N Run head coach Jeremy Miller. He previously received an offer from Florida Gulf Coast last fall. Richter attended the Drake–Wichita State game Saturday.

Richter is hearing from a variety of schools.

"Consistently, a lot of mail from Colorado State, Northern Iowa. A little bit of Wisconsin. Yale. The Ivy League schools are calling a lot. Lehigh. Lafayette. A lot of schools are requesting transcripts these days."

Richter is an excellent student, which has meant plenty of interest from Ivy and Patriot League schools.

"Right now, I actually have a 4.0 for the second quarter. Between a 3.95 for the first quarter and a 4.0 for the second quarter. Should be right up there."

Richter hadn't had much time to attend an college games before this weekend, but hopes to make more trips in the future.

"I think that we are going to do a team game here coming up soon, like a MIAC game to just get a look at a game around here."

Richter had the chance to check out several schools last summer as Minnesota Pump N Run attended several college camps.

'We went out to Colorado and to a Wisconsin camp, Loyola in the Chicago area."

Richter is an excellent inside scorer who is working hard to improve his all-around game.

"Outside game. Just dribbling and shooting. Just trying to improve that game, because I think that I pretty much have the inside game down so far, because that is basically what I did last year and this year, I am working on the outside game."

Lakeville South started the season slowly, but has played well recently, according to Richter.

"We played two tough games right off the bat, at Eden Prairie and on the road versus Benidle. We were in both of those games and we should have won both of them. With that, we'd only have three losses and I'd say that we would be ranked in the state, if we hadn't lost those two. We are bouncing back and figuring it out."

Richter averaged 19.0 points per game as a sophomore for the Cougars, who finished 12-15, losing to Apple Valley 69-65 in the first round of the playoffs. Richter scored in double figures in 25 of 27 games. He had three games of more than 30 points as he scored 34 versus Bloomington Kennedy, 36 against Burnsville and 38 versus Apple Valley. Richter had ten other games of 20 or more points.
