New CB Dwight Tillman Expected to Contribute

Dwight Tillman, a 5-foot-11, 184-pound cornerback from Lackawanna CC, committed to Minnesota after visiting the campus this past weekend. Tillman will join former college teammate Jeff Wills, who started at right tackle and tight end Tiree Eure, who inked with the Gophers in December. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Lackawanna head coach Mark Duda to find out about the latest of the newest Gopher.

Dwight Tillman was named second team All-Northeast Football Conference. He helped lead Lackawanna to a tr5-4 mark. He had 35 tackles, including 31 solo tackles. Tillman also had seven pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions.

Lackawanna head coach Mark Duda thinks that Minnesota is getting an excellent player.

"He is a sub 4.5 (forty yard dash time) guy. He has great hips and is a flexible guy. He can really cover and he has gotten better every day in practice."

Duda said that Minnesota beat out two top schools for Tillman.

"He was looking at Kansas State and South Florida. I think that the coaching change at South Florida really helped you guys."

Duda said that having familiar faces on the Gopher roster played a big part in landing Tillman.

"Having Tiree Eure helped by hosting his friend."

Lackawanna has 13 players who are expected sign in Division I schools next week. Duda thinks that Tillman can contribute right away.

"He is a great kid and a great student. He will help you win. He can flat out cover. He can take one guy away. He is a Division I corner."
