Jamaine Brooks Makes Last Minute Visit

Jamaine Brooks, a 6-3, 290-pound defensive tackle from Miami (FL) Palmetto who recently committed to Louisville, made a last minute visit to Minnesota, according to sources close to the program. The Gophers are hoping to add some size up front after losing Eric Small, Gilbert Brown and Barrett Moen to graduation.

Jamaine Brooks visited Louisville last weekend and committed to the Cardinals. However, Minnesota was able to convince to make one last visit before the signing day.

Brooks, who has scholarship offers from Illinois, Minnesota, Norfolk State and Western Michigan, was rated one of the Top 5 defensive linemen in Miami-Dade by the Miami Herald. He led Palmetto to a 7-3 mark as a senior. Brooks was a third team All-Dade County 6-A selection this season.

"I played every position on the line. I played nose guard, defensive tackle, and defensive end," Brooks told Scout.com recently. "I feel like I'm an overall defensive lineman. Some players only have certain aspects of a lineman, but I feel I have them all. If I can get the right coach, I feel like I can get to the NFL."
